Marcus Simeone returns to Metropoliltan Room with his brand new show featuring highlights from his thrilling new album, Haunted, on the Miranda Music label as well as evergreens from the Great American Songbook, As always with Marcus, there will be some very special musical surprises culled from his repertoire of 3000 songs.

After recording over 300 songwriters' demos for major artists (Trisha Yearwood, Reba McIntyre, etc.,) and two live CD's (At Last, Everything  Must Change / Miranda,) the new album, Haunted, is Marcus's first full-length studio CD and features memorable – and haunting songs by many of today's most visible and popular songwriters including, John Bucchino, David Friedman, Heather Sullivan, Janis Ian, Stephen Schwartz, and David Zippell among others. The CD also features many of the original composers at the keys in unison with Marcus on this exciting project. The album is scheduled for release in December with a special celebration at the conclusion of this run.

In the liner notes to his first album, At Last, best selling author, critic and renowned song historian Will Friedwald gushingly referred to , “ … his beautiful voice, his extremely wide range, his ability to switch effortlessly from baritone to tenor to falsetto and, likewise, his multi-generic ability to move easily between the world's of pop, cabaret, theater music, soul and even jazz.”

Universally respected for his heart-wrenching interpretations of soulful ballads, red-hot jazz sensibility and powerful pop flair, Mr. Simeone's musical genius has also been compared to some legendary, eclectic greats in the industry including, Marc Anthony, Al Jarreau, Johnny Mathis and Jimmy Scott. He appeared on the original Star Search as well as Showtime at The Apollo as well as performing as part of the annual Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention at Town Hall and Jazz At Lincoln Center series on four occasions.
Critics have frequently referred to Marcus's haunting vocals as mesmerizing. He has been honored by The Manhattan Association of Clubs with three vocal awards (and ten nominations) as well as the coveted Back Stage Bistro Award as Outstanding Male Vocalist. Theaterscene.net twice named him their Outstanding Artist of the Year.
Reserve now to see this emotionally-charged, multi-octave tenor who sings with an emotional depth that is rare. This is one of those not-to-be-missed performances by an artist who is receiving national acclaim and attention.

 Saturday April 24th  9:45 ~ CD release !

Metropolitan Room 34 west 22 street, NYC $20 music / $15 dessert/drink minimum Reservations: 212-206-0440

The new show will highlight Marcus's own "changes" in music, the world -- and Marcus. The eclectic song list will feature songs that reflect these assorted forms of funny and profound changes in sensibilities and the world we live in. He will sing songs from the catalogs of many great songwriters including Sammy Cahn, Bobby Darin, Carole King, Jimmy Van Heusen, Johnny Mercer and more. Aside from praising his expressive singing and distinct vocal range, writers have compared Marcus to an eclectic mix including some of the great contemporary interpretive vocalists ranging from Al Jarreau to Jimmy Smith to Johnny Mathis and the late Eva Cassidy. Such is his androgynous sound, emotional range and soulful delivery that writer/music historian Will Friedwald wrote, "Like few other singers I have ever heard, Marcus Simeone gets both classic and contemporary pop songs to live side by side with each other and get along in perfect harmony. And he explores the common ground between the two ... his beautiful voice, his extremely wide range, his ability to switch effortlessly from baritone to tenor to falsetto, and, likewise, his multi-generic ability to move easily between the worlds of pop, cabaret, theater music, soul and even jazz. Whatever he sings, he does it with total sincerity. Marcus Simeone is totally sincere, and I for one am glad that he's here."

Musical Direction and arrangements by Barry Levitt

Thursday, June 12th (showtime 9pm)

Le Dôme, The Nightclub Under the Stars at The Manor
111 Prospect Avenue, West Orange, NJ
Reservations 973-731-2360.

Enjoy stellar evenings of four-star dining and four-star entertainment. The monthly Cabaret Soirée series, presented on Thursday evenings, brings some of America's star cabaret performers to Le Dôme's intimate stage.

The Manor offer a four-course, four-star dinner and show package with seatings at 6:00pm, 6:15pm and 6:30pm. Cost for dinner and show is only $74. A limited number of "show only" seats are available at $35 per person in Le Dôme.

Since his sensational cabaret debut in January 2000, Marcus Simeone has emerged as one of the most talked-about and celebrated singers to grace the stages of Manhattan's nightclubs since Streisand took the town by storm at the Bon Soir. Winner of numerous awards and a Manhattan nightclub icon, he is universally regarded for his heart-wrenching interpretations of lyrics, red-hot jazz sensibility, and powerful pop flair. Reviewing a previous outing, New York Daily News critic Wayman Wong wrote "Simeone proved once again that the sky's the limit for his stratospheric high tenor and his talent. He's got his own voice, as a singer and as an artist...a special sound that deserves to be heard. The same can be said for the three singers Marcus honors in this highly entertaining show at Le Dome.

Bobby Darin, Johnny Mathis, and Tony Bennett; three iconic singing legends, each with a passion for singing which has touched generations of fans the world over. "Mack The Knife," "Beyond The Sea," "Misty," "It's Not For Me To Say," "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," "Rags To Riches" ‹- these towering hits, by these three men, are only a hint of the impact these men have made on modern music and culture.

Bill Van Sant, formerly of Worrall Community Newspapers, in reviewing Marcus' previous show at The Manor, called his performance "beautiful and haunting." Join Marcus, along with renown musical director Barry Levitt and his trio, as they pay homage to popular American song as exemplified by the works of Darin, Mathis and Bennett. Earlier in his career, Marcus appeared on the original Star Search as well as Showtime at the Apollo. Critic John Hoglund of Back Stage proclaimed Marcus "King of the power ballad . . . he has no peer."

Before it was a restaurant, Tavern on the Green was home to the sheep that grazed on Central Park's nearby Sheep Meadow! Constructed in 1870 and designed in Victorian Gothic style by architect Jacob Wrey Mould, the building continued to house sheep until 1934, when legendary NYC builder Robert Moses campaigned to turn it into a fancy restaurant. The sheep were moved to Prospect Park and WPA workers were used to renovate the structure's interior. In 1976, after being shut down for three years and undergoing a multi-million dollar renovation, it was re-opened, and once again it is one of Central Park's premier attractions.

Marcus & Eva's show, "2", played a brilliant run in downtown's Duplex Theatre which was labeled a "major event in NYC cabaret" by one critic.

The MAC Awards are presented annually to honor achievements in cabaret, comedy and jazz. The Awards encompass nearly 20 categories, including vocalists and vocal groups, piano bar and jazz performers, comedy and musical comedy performers, impersonators, writers of songs and special material, directors, musical directors and technical directors, recordings, and more.
There will be a very special tribute to the late Dick Gallagher, featuring Patti Lupone, Karen Mason and Lina Koutrakos. Cabaret's grand dame, Julie Wilson, will perform a special number in memory of Bobby Short.
"I am so proud of our community," says Executive Producer and MAC President, Barry Levitt, who is producing his fourth MAC Awards event. "Since MAC's creation in 1983, many of the performers who have appeared on our stages have branched out to successful careers in recording, Broadway and off-Broadway, television and film. With this year's event, we will honor Keely, Kenny, George and Mario, some of the greats who represent cabaret, comedy and jazz. But this evening also celebrates all the wonderful, bright, up and coming talent – both onstage and off – keeping the tradition alive in MAC's 70+ member clubs throughout New York City and nationwide."
The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) was founded in 1983. Its mission is to advance the art and business of live entertainment. A trade association, its activities are designed to heighten public awareness of the contributions and vitality of the performing arts of cabaret, comedy and jazz, to build its current and future audiences, and to speak out as an influential voice on behalf of MAC members and the industry at large. Members of MAC include cabaret, comedy and jazz artists, directors and musical directors, technical directors, musicians, club owners and booking managers, composers and lyricists, journalists and publicists, artists' managers and agents, and friends and supporters of live entertainment.
